It’s official, 2011 is the fifth and final return to Orlando Florida. Some of you may remember me mentioning this as a possibility last July. As of May 3rd 2011, it is 100% confirmed.

July 21st-24th 2011 will be the last 21 Convention ever held in Orlando (or at least, for the next few years). It’s been a great run. Starting in 2007 at the Holiday Inn on Idrive, moving to downtown Orlando in 2008, and remaining there all the way through 2010, and a final 2011 event.

Why the move?

Well, you could ask me the same question in regards to bringing the convention to Europe. The answer for that was two fold:

• T21C in Europe is a part of my long range vision for the event, as is Australia.
• Logistics, distance, geographical location. People are more willing to fly a few hours across Europe than they are trans-Atlantic to Florida.

Really, having done it twice now, flying across the world is a hike. Flying around Europe is much easier.

Coincidentally, the same answers apply for moving the convention out of Orlando.

• My vision for T21C North America it to move it around … yep, North America.
• Even 5 years in, no one comes from the Orlando area.

Seriously, every single year, from 2007 all the way through 2010, the number of attendees from Florida and the Orlando area, is abysmal. For whatever reason, and despite starting there, Florida is not the hot spot for T21C. Cities around the US and Canada, significantly smaller in population, drive loads more traffic to this site and the videos than Orlando — which is a big city.

I have no idea why this is, and why 98% of attendees are having to fly across the country to attend. It’s the total opposite of what most would expect.

Yet, I stopped caring a long time ago, because despite loving my home State and being a proud Floridian, there is nothing tying me or T21C down there.

Shit. If T21C can be held in Stockholm and London, why not somewhere else in North America?

• A city more central to the attendees who are flying in from all over the country.
• A city with thousands of viewers visiting the site every week.

Simply put: it makes no sense to keep it in Orlando. It’s better off elsewhere, and 2011 will be the farewell Orlando event.

The 21 Convention 2011 of Orlando Florida, is the summation of 5 years and 5 events in Florida. It’s going to go out with a bang, and then it’s gone.

The very serious question is: are you going to be there to experience it?
