Short and sweet today.
Not long ago someone suggested here on the site, that there be a way for viewers to submit their notes of particular event speeches.
This is actually something that had been on my mind for some time, that I planned to implement come the 2010 footage release.
Not only a way for site visitors to submit their own notes, but discuss the speech a bit more in depth than WordPress comments (or other comment systems) will accommodate.
The best way I have seen this done is on the IhopeTheyServeBeerhinHell.com movie site from Tucker Max. He doesn’t allow comments on the posts, but he (used to) leave a link at the bottom of each post to a thread on the discussion board he formerly ran.
It worked out quite well actually, and I took note of it while the discussion board was still operational (it no longer is).
In any case, when someone suggested I implement a feature like that now, rather than later as I had originally intended, I decided to just go ahead and “get er done”.
And indeed, it is done. Under every single clip of official event footage you will now see a single line of text with a link at the end of it leading to a correlating thread on The 21 Convention Community (now over 500 members strong).
The 21 Convention Community is of course free, but registration is required. And upon signing up, if you do not wish to receive e-mails from administrators about The 21 Convention, please indicate so in your profile settings =).
This applies for all of 2007, 2008, 2009 footage, and all future (official) event footage.
Feel free to post your own notes taken while viewing the video for others to benefit from, or go ahead and ask some more advanced questions that may have been out of place, or overlooked, on the comment system for the entire site.
I can’t guarantee that every speaker will respond individually, but there are quite a few that post on the forum frequently that should chime in, including Hshudo, Right Hand Man, Zebra, and myself. Not to mention, there are forum members who are quite knowledgebale that have never spoken at or even attended the live event.
