A week or so ago, Ant-man (my personal pet name for our grand high master Anthony “Dream” Johnson, who makes wild flowers grow in the winter, long my he reign) contacted me. He told me that Braddock was releasing a book. He also wanted me to review it. Of course, fearing Anthony’s near god-like wrath and indestructible armor of body hair, I agreed.
Now to begin, everything I know about Braddock. He works for Love Systems. The company is now under the guidance of Savoy , but was formerly The Mystery Method. My only previous experience with Braddock was watching the speech he gave in 2008 here on the website.
Linkage: Braddock 2008
For anyone about to enter college the speech is incredibly valuable. However, that is my entire experience with the man. In reality though, the book appears to be written by many different Love Systems contributors. Mr. M probably contributed as much to the book as Braddock. Though I have no way of knowing, he basically says so in a thanks to him in the introduction. DaHunter, Daxx, and Savoy, as well as others, make several contributions. These are usually in the form of examples, but Braddock appears to have consulted them on some of the concepts.
The book contains a wealth of information on Phone and Text Game. There is a great deal of information in this book that will be usable for almost any skill level. It is well written and flows in a comfortable way. The format and layout are nice, and the summary options at the end of chapters help re-enforce the ideas were already elaborated upon.
With out having this book, it will take a great deal of time to find this information. It certainly exists else where in the community, but Braddock has done a superb job distilling it. If this is a part of your game that give your trouble, than this book will give you a ton of answers.
There are two major cons that I can find throughout the book. However even these don’t add up to much. First, there is a lot more to be gained from the book if you have first read Magic Bullets. I have never gotten around to that, because I really just don’t care. The book contains a lot of jargon that seems to have been introduced in Magic Bullets.
Now this does not mean the book is unreadable, just that there is more available if you have read both. You will still be able to understand the topics easily, just some of the references or the Emotional Progression Model may be a little foreign.
Still if you have problems in this specific area the book will help. The other major problem I have with this book, is a lack of innovation. There is a ton of information in this book. It is all concrete and reliable. I would agree with 90% of is with absolutely no problem. (I only leave 10% just in case I missed something). However, it really lacks any amazing jumps forward or brilliant new insights.
Not that that matters to much. Much of the information in here is going to be new to the people who read it. It will also put that information in a much more easily understood format.
I’m going to abuse a familiar concept know, that I prefer when I see reviews.
Pro.
Well written, straight forward, lot of good reliable information. Well presented and certainly helpful. Contains almost every thing a person could want or need to know about Phone and Text Game.
Cons
Nothing extremely innovative. A few referrals back to Magic Bullets makes it difficult for readers not familiar with Love Systems.
I’m giving the book 4 out of 5 stars. All in all, this book does exactly what it leads you to believe.
Here are some highlight concepts that the book talked about.
- Call Back Humor
- Sexualization
- Short Medium and Long Fuses
- Investment Level
- Baiting
- Stopping Flakes
- Meet Up Strategies.
- More Stuff
So there you have it gentle men. The book has my endorsement, and I look forward to running into one of the Love Systems instructors at a future convention.
