The change I see in this guy from last year is amazing. Much more centered and confident.
I just saw this talk and DJ Fuji’s talk and I have a question about ejecting from conversations, because I see a method conflict.
Fuji makes the point that you should maximize your interactions by staying in them until you are asked to leave but not just when your audience shows disinterest.
On the other hand Ratisse describes a strategy for working bars/clubs/parties where you have short conversations with a good chunk of the people you are not ‘targeting’ . Then while the groups are comfortable, you try and pull away your target. AFC Adam describes something similar, except Ratisse even tries to treat individuals as groups as well. That’s a subtlety.
So is premature ejecltion so bad? You leave so you go on talking to other people. I was at a club last night practicing these quick conversations, but it was before seeing either of the talks and I ended up feeling I didn’t build enough rapport/comfort with them. The groups were too cohesive for me to just break people out of them. I admit I didn’t try to pull them away; instead I just found opportunities where there were 3-sets so I could just get the 3rd person into a conversation alone.
I feel there is a wide rift between these two strategies. I see the pros/cons in each ( differences in rapport and differences in whether you look too needy ) , but could someone shed some light on unifying them with a common principle ?
Combine them together. I talked about working the room. Obviously after working the room I end up picking a set to target. The initial phase is to generate social proof, find out which sets are warm to me and gives me set to re engage if I start losing my momentum in my target set. It also is a great way to make friends, build a social life and get invited places.
Hmm…this is a pretty awesome short-set method. It generates a HUGE amount of social proof.
I did this once without realizing it. I marked the hottest girl in the club = “this is my target of the night” = hired gun and started to work up to it. The whole night I would open girls with “Heyyyy!!!” + hug – this created a massive state boost btw to the point where waitress grabbed my ass while I was in a set. I turn and chase her, come up…”now it’s my turn!” grab her ass….she’s loving it:P NEXT SET!
Open the hot girl, spent less than 1 minute, “gotta go to the washroom cya” -> hug open a totally random girl right in front of her.
The whole night I opened probably 15-20 sets. End of the night somebody grabs my hand and pulls me….turn around -> its the hired gun “I just finished working”. Me inside – “WTFFFFF!!!!??????? This never happens!”
After watching this video it broke it down for me.
PS: great method! The only problem for me personally is generating that massive state that makes those interactions so easy. It’s like the most positive headspace that you ever been in. I can only re-create that with alcohol or without but about 10% of the time I go out. Does anybody have some tips on how to do that?
Ratisse you are a fucking dope natural. You should create and release a product. You have a lot of original shit that’s for sure and some solid inner game stuff, no doubt you would help a lot of dudes and their self-limiting beliefs of what is possible. The community is evolving and you could open new doors or help us open some, like bathroom and car doors with girls hehe
Ratisse thanks bro, this is my pesonal favourite speech of 2009 alongside Adam Lyons.
Just to give a heads up, this vid isn’t showing up. Never had that problem before.
Fixed. We’re completely re-designing the site at the moment too, so there may be other videos/features not working at present. Be patient, everything will be smooth again shortly.
Ratisse, you’ve really changed a lot from last year’s 21 convention. You’re doing an awesome job! I can really see the body language and positivity you give off. Great info, are you still doing boot camps? I would love to be taught by Ratisse.
Contacted Ratisse for ya. Should be getting an e-mail from him within the next few days.
